Virtual Coaching

Are you ready to improve your swimming technique but unsure where to start? From my years of experience teaching, coaching, and swimming, these are my recommendations: do not swim more than you have to with poor technique, and slow down in order to speed up.

In a sport where there are always too many things to think about, here are the four pillars to efficient swimming: posture, pull, drive, and ride. If you  focus on these concepts once a week, you will start to see improvements in your technique. As an added bonus, you’ll be able to swim further and reduce your chance of injury.

First you need to float your boat. Your boat is your body. You need to be able to be still in the water and float before you can propel yourself forward with the least amount of effort. Your pull is your lever. Bend your elbow and push the water behind you. By rotating your body as much as 60 degrees, you can increase your length as well as the amount of force that you can put on the water. Then reach as far as you possibly can and glide. Time your pull and rotation to maximize your glide.

In my group coaching programs, as well as with personalized coaching, we discuss how to integrate these concepts into your muscle memory so that you can make each stroke count. By swimming efficiently you can take your swimming to new venues and new distances. Maybe you’re ready for your first 10K?
